Time to Talk , Mental Health

Time to Talk – Help us start a conversation

On Thursday 2 February, our Community Development Workers will be celebrating ‘Time to Talk Day’ by hosting an event at Wellington Road Community Centre, 27 Wellington Road, Dudley, DY1 1RB, from 11am – 2pm.

The ‘Time to Talk Day’ campaign, organised by Time to Change, was set up in 2014 to get people talking about their mental health and challenge those stigmas surrounding mental health issues.

The event will offer attendees a chance to talk about mental health and find ways of improving their  own health and wellbeing. Along with getting the local public talking about their mental health, these events will also provide the opportunity to find out more about the services that are available from stallholders including local libraries, police, Healthwatch, adult/community learning teams and many more. There will also be a free lunch on the day.

For more information or to book a place, please contact cdw@dwmh.nhs.uk or call 01385 366517.

UK Youth Parliament Opportuntity

The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) enables young people to use their energy and passion to change the world for the better. Run by young people for young people, UKYP provides opportunities for 11-18 year olds to use their voice in creative ways to bring about social change

The Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) are elected by their peers and are offered a number of local, regional and national opportunities to influence decisions which affect young people’s lives.

In Dudley we have two places on the UKYP and will be holding our election from Monday January 30th until Sunday 12th February 2017 (inclusive) across schools, colleges, PRUs and other organisations across the Borough.

Results will be announced in February and a winner’s posters will be produced to promote to young people who their elected representatives.

In order for your young people to have a say in who they feel would best represent them you can host a ballot box in your organisation – allowing all of the young people to vote. We try to be as flexible as possible with voting.

If you would like to host a ballot box please contact me on the details below and we can agree the best way for your organisation to get as many votes as possible.
