Make a Difference – Dudley’s Children in Care Council (CiCC)
The Children in Care Council (CICC) in Dudley is called Make a Difference, where young people in care can have their say on issues that matter to them, and can make sure that they are heard by the people that make the decisions.
Who are we?
We are a group of young people aged 11- 18 and we want to ensure that looked after children, young people and care leavers have a voice, and to give you the opportunity to have your views on things that affect your life are heard.
We meet every two weeks to discuss important issues to young people who are in care in our borough. CiCC is supported by staff from Dudley Council who help the group to work together.
What do we do?
We do lots of different things which include:
Write and send newsletters, updates and questionnaires to young people
Represent young people’s views on issues that affect their lives
Organise events for young people in care so they can have their say
Design and maintain a website for looked after young people
Work with other organisations to make sure looked after young people’s voices are heard
Have regular activities to celebrate our work
Attend events in the West Midlands and elsewhere in the country too
Have FUN!!
This year we are also going on a 2-night stay to the Pioneer Centre during August! We will be taking part in team building activities and letting new members know more about what we do.
