Core Working Together  – 7th March 2018, 9:30 – 4:30 Saltwells EDC

This course enables participants to develop their knowledge, skills and ability to work together with other agencies to safeguard children and young people. It will also ensure that participants are aware of information sharing and the referral processes. Learners will be able to:

  • Enhance their knowledge and confidence and strengthen their ability to work together effectively with other agencies to safeguard children and young people.
  • Identify, assess and articulate the impact of risk on the child.
  • Evidence how the child’s voice, wishes and feelings are visible throughout the safeguarding process.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to barriers and challenges posed within the multi-agency safeguarding arena.

Dudley Young People’s Suicide Prevention Training

I am pleased to announce that the Dudley Young Health Champions is joining up with Papyrus: Prevention of young suicide to offer young people in Dudley the opportunity to attend a short workshop on Suicide Prevention.  For further details and to book see the Eventbrite page https://suicidepreventiondudley.eventbrite.co.uk

The workshop is taking place on:

Wednesday 31st January 5.30pm to 7.30pm – drinks and buffet will be available between 5.30 and 6pm @ DY1 Community Building, Stafford Street, Dudley, DY1 1RT (between the Asda and Stepping Stones surgery)

Priority will be given to young people who are volunteering with other young people, however this workshop is relevant to all young people. Please note this is a workshop for young people not adults.

Please could you promote this amongst the group of young people that you work with and encourage them to sign up. Nearly everyone’s life has been touched by suicide – it is the biggest killer of males and females under 35 and given the right support most people that suicide would of chosen to live.

****Please also note that if you work in a setting would like to look at options for having this workshop delivered to a group YOUNG PEOPLE in your setting then please contact me to discuss further.

Part Time Project Support Officer

Interested in supporting young people to have a voice? Want to gain experience in project management and communications? This is the job for you!

We are seeking a part time (21 hours per week) Project Support Officer to help us deliver the NHS England Youth Forum. Now in it’s fourth year, this fantastic programme enables young people to shape healthcare for their peers across the country. As the Project Support Officer, you will be assisting the project lead in organising and delivering residentials and workshops for young people, supporting their attendance at events, and managing the internal and external communications for the NHS Youth Forum.

If you have experience working in a team, supporting the planning and delivery of projects, and using social media, as well as an interest in young people taking control of their health, then we would love to hear from you.

FREE LOCAL Conference: Staying Safe Online – Dudley’s Approach

You are invited to attend Dudley’s 2nd Online Safety Conference.

The day is aimed at individuals that work with children and young people in Dudley and is being planned in conjunction with young people who live and go to school in the Borough, who will also be facilitating the day.

This will be an opportunity to be updated on online safety work that has taken place in the borough over the last 12 months, the chance to hear views, experiences and advice from young people in Dudley and receive a presentation from the professional’s helpline.

The conference January 30th at Saltwells will run from 9.00am until 3.00pm, with a light lunch provided.
