Volunteers available!

Do you have any groups, events or activities running 20th-24th August?? We could bring a team of volunteers!!
On the week of 20th August we have a Youth Social Action week here at Amblecote Christian Centre. We have around 45 young people staying with us from the local area and we get involved in helping in the community. In the past we have run community events, sorted out overgrown gardens for those in need, done litter picking, helped the homeless, run kids clubs and more.

We are looking for projects that our young people can get involved with on the week and hopefully be inspired by!

Our young people will be accompanied by adults with a DBS and we can do a visit before the week to find out more and work out how many young people to bring, how much we can help with and whether we will need to bring any equipment.

We can’t guarantee we can help yet but we are planning out the week so if you get in contact about what we could get involved with and then we can let you know in advance what we can do. Contact Roxy Smith on roxy@amblecotechristiancentre.org.uk or Natalie Start on natalie@amblecotechristiancentre.org.uk or call the office on 01384370365

Kids swim free this summer!

Kids swim free this summer holidays!

Let’s get kids active this summer with FREE swimming at Dudley borough leisure centres

School’s out for summer – swimming is in! Let’s get kids active with free swimming sessions at Dudley borough leisure centres.

Children aged 16 and under who reside in the Dudley borough are eligible to swim for free at Dudley Leisure Centre, Halesowen Leisure Centre and Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge during public swimming times.

Free swimming will be offered during the school summer holidays, starting on Saturday 21st July and finishing on Sunday 2nd September, the day before most children return to school.

Swimming is a great way to get children active, keep them healthy and have fun during the six-week break.

To access this offer, registration must be completed in advance and parents can sign their children up from Tuesday 17th July to Saturday 1st September at www.freeswimindudley.co.uk. They will then be issued with a QR code which can be scanned every time they visit one of the leisure centres. Families without access to a computer or internet can sign up at any of the borough’s libraries.

Equaliteas Quiz

Amman Ahmed, a youth councillor, organised an event which took place in Gather, last Saturday to share, debate and celebrate 90 years of all men and women over 21 the equal right to vote. This was part of a national event and there is more information here: https://equaliteas.org.uk/

As part of the event he and other members of the youth council organised a quiz – everyone that enters and takes part could win £20 vouchers for any shop in Dudley – it is the winner’s choice!

Please could you support him by taking part in the quiz, which is open to all ages, as well as spreading the link to the questionnaire please? The closing date is on 15th July.

It’s really short and is around equality..

Thank you on behalf of Amman and the other DYC members who supported him to organise the event.

Early Help Survey

Hi,
Voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations that come into contact with children and young people are incredibly diverse. They range from small groups such as local drama or art clubs primarily run by volunteers to large national organisations including charities with mainly paid staff.
One thing that they all have in common is the important part they can play in safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that they work with. Often they are in a good position to spot a problem developing at an early stage and put families in touch with services that can support them.

Dudley’s Early Help is about taking action early and as soon as possible to provide support for children, young people and their families who may be facing some challenges.

We want to take up a few minutes of your time to find out what VCS organisations understand about Dudley’s Early Help offer, what are the challenges, what’s working well and what support is needed. Please complete this short survey which will take around 5 minutes to complete all the information you provide will be treated as confidential and anonymised.
