Community groups toolkit – meeting safely

Dudley MBC are inviting community group leaders to join us for a webinar to see how and if groups are able to meet safely under the new Government Coronavirus guidelines. This webinar is specifically for those working in community settings or running community groups in Dudley Borough.

To support groups, the Dudley Public Health Team have developed a toolkit which we will share with you at the webinar and discuss how the checklist and resources can be used to support you and your group.

Child Food Poverty – Help this half term.

We know that things are tough at the moment, luckily we have some amazing organisations and business that are rising to the challenge and offering help and support. Here are a few we know about across Dudley Borough – Please comment and add more if you are aware of them. Lets get the message out and ensure no child in Dudley goes hungry.

Heaven’s Kitchen runs on a Monday Night 6 – 7 and is for those who are homeless, vulnerable or in need due to circumstance and they can get a free hot meal.  For This Week Only they are also operating a Grab and Go service on a Wednesday and Friday at 12 noon where a grab bag of cold food is provided to take away.  After this week it will operate on a Tuesday and Friday at 12 noon.

The Lighthouse Cafe is a newly opened cafe which does charge for meals, HOWEVER if anyone has a family that is in need, they can speak to Jeanette, the manager, and they will be provided with food.  The cafe this week will be open every day 9.30 – 2pm.  After this week the cafe will open 11 – 4 Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Friday and 10 – 2 on a Saturday.

St Thomas’s Community Association We have decided in a short space of time that we will provide packed lunches to children in the area during this October half term.  You will be able to pick up a packed lunch from Sledmere Community Centre, The School Drive (off Buffery Road), Dudley, DY2 8EH. The centre is on the left before the main school gates. You will be able to pick up the pack lunch between 11.00am and 12.00 noon. You are invited to come along to our Dudley Centre to meet the staff and get to hear our exciting opportunities for our Vocational BTEC Qualifications to support 16-18-year olds into Employment, Apprenticeships and Further Education. You will get the opportunity to have a guided tour of the centre and to get the insights into our blended learning via our online Moodle platforms. Meet our Mentors to see how we can support your client’s journey on programme through our My Mind programme and you will have the opportunity to meet our current learners on programme and hear first hand on how they are finding the programme

To comply with Government guidance and as a COVID safe employee you are asked to email

trevorcampbell@skillstraininguk.com To book a half hour visit as will be restricting visits to just 2 people at a time. Once you arrive we will explain our COVID procedures, take your temperature and ask you to record your visit for test and trace purposes.

Incentives and Progression

As you progress, there will be ‘milestones’ which will trigger incentive and

reward payments.

To ensure you are able to receive these you must:

● Maintain 95% attendance and punctuality.

● Be on track to achieve all qualification(s), as determined by your Tutor.

● Have provided the details of a bank account held in your own name.

Incentive Structure

At the end of Week 7 (if all eligibility criteria met) = payment of £50

Mid-point in programme (if all eligibility criteria met) = payment of £50

On or after Planned End Date of course (if eligibility criteria met) = payment of £100

Further payments of £25 will be triggered when the following qualifications are passed

and achieved at a minimum of Pass grade: Vocational qualification, English, maths


Bursary

You may be eligible for a weekly bursary depending on your personal

circumstances. These might include the following criteria:

● Be currently under the care of the Local Authority, or a recent care leaver.

● Be receiving Income Support, or Universal Credit (in your own name)

because you are financially supporting yourself.

● Be receiving Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments in your own

right as well as Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit in your own right
