Ideas Made Real

Dear Friends and Colleagues across the West Midlands,

We’re very excited to announce that our new youth social action campaign ‘Ideas Made Real’ is now live, powered by the Birmingham2022 Commonwealth Games! This is an amazing opportunity for young people to bring their ideas to life with an Ideas Made Real Award of between £5-10K*.

Each successful project will receive a whole package of support and benefits such as; a Youth Social Action Activator assigned to each project, a guaranteed reference, a ticket to the Commonwealth Games, professional mentoring … and so much more!

If you work with 16–24-year-olds across the West Midlands, then we’d love to visit you and hopefully inspire some of the young people you work with to take part. Anyone aged 16-24 can apply, either on their own or as part of a group,  however we are particularly encouraging applications from those who face some kind of social barrier.

We are thrilled to have recently employed 2 Youth Social Action Activators, who are really keen to get out and meet you and your organisations, and young people you work with to get them excited about creating their own social action campaigns in their own communities.

If you would like an Activator to visit your organisation we can:

  • Host a workshop to teach young people about social action and how they can get involved
  • Set up an information stand in Student Unions or communal spaces
  • Hold a lesson or assembly about social action and Ideas Made Real
  • Join celebration days/STEM and career advice fairs
  • Offer a more bespoke offer (depending on availability)

If you would like to get involved, or would like more information, please do either get in touch with me directly, or email the team and we will would be happy to help – gen22@birmingham2022.com
